Below are some of the most frequently asked questions we get at Rojas Spanish. If you have additional questions, please let us know! You can send an e-mail to: or give us a call at 651-434-0555.

Spanish is one of the most commonly spoken language in the world. In the United States, it is the second most commonly spoken language. Having the ability to communicate in another language opens up so many new doors, both personally and professionally. In addition to broadening your horizons socially, learning a new language is exercise for your brain and encourages creativity.

Rojas Spanish uses a natural language learning approach, referred to as “The Rojas Way”.

Luis Rojas has been teaching Spanish for more than 40 years. He opened Rojas Spanish in 2003 with a goal of developing something different from the sterile classroom and tidy rows of chairs he has seen so many times before. After spending time reflecting on what he did not like about traditional language programs, he developed something entirely new.

The Rojas Way focuses on giving students the confidence and independence they need to speak Spanish, using a natural approach. At Rojas Spanish, you are not going to write out grammar exercises or take vocabulary quizzes. You will learn to speak Spanish the same way you learned to speak English – listen, repeat, make mistakes, and try again. You’ve already learned a language once – so you know this process works. When you were a child, you were not given formal classes to learn your native language. You learned naturally, effortlessly, as you listened and imitated those around you. This is exactly the environment we create. A place where you feel so comfortable, you forget you’re learning at all.

The teaching method is not the only unique part about Rojas Spanish. Our classes are designed for optimum comfort, so you can feel relaxed. Ease into a comfortable chair, or curl up on the couch with a cup of tea or a glass of wine. This is language learning at it’s finest!

Rojas Spanish classes are taught at Luis’s house in West. St. Paul: 479 Darla Ct, West St Paul, MN 55118

No problema! In fact, most of the students we work with have no previous Spanish experience. We offer classes for absolute beginners all the way through to advanced learning. We can take you from “hola” all the way to fluency.

We offer detailed explanations of each language level we offer here. If you are still unsure of what class is right for you, we offer free consultations to help determine the best fit. E-mail to setup a time to chat.

Once you get started, if we determine a different class would be a better fit, you can make a switch free of charge.

Once you decide which class meets your needs, you can register online here. If you have any questions about our registration process, contact Amanda at

This is a very important question and something we take seriously. The smaller the class size, the more individual attention each student gets. For this reason, we do not allow more than 8 students in each class.

Luis and Joan Rojas are the Rojas Spanish business owners. Luis is the Director and primary instructor. You can read both of their bios here.

Amanda Hatling is the program manager and handles the logistics, customer service and administration of the program. You can read her bio here.

The times and days for our group classes may change from session to session depending on student demand. If there is a specific time or day you are looking for, please let us know by e-mailing Amanda – We always take student feedback seriously and appreciate everyone’s suggestions.

If we are unable to accommodate your schedule with group classes, a great option is private tutoring. Private sessions are customized to meet your every need, both in schedule and learning style. You can learn more about private tutoring here.

We always encourage students to bring along a notebook and pen or pencil to take notes. If you forget, don’t worry! We always have a few extras to share.

We leave this up to you. With each class, we will provide work you can do outside of class. For example, a writing exercise, an article to read or a video to watch. These are optional and strongly encouraged. Each student has different goals and learning styles. What works for you may not work for another. Which is why we are flexible and always offer various options for practice outside of classes.

Not a problem, life happens!  We will work with you to reschedule and ensure you get the total number of classes and hours you paid for. If you know you will miss a class, please let us know by sending an email to
