This class is the perfect way to start your Spanish learning journey. No previous experience needed. However, if you do have some familiarity with the language – you are encouraged to attend this class.
The focus in Starter Level is an introduction to the Spanish language and/or reinforcing what you already know. You will come away with a fresh perspective on how to learn another language. For instance; you learn everything starts with a sound. We begin by fine-tuning your ear to the phonetics and cadence of the language. With this, you will learn faster than you ever imagined. Vocabulary and expressions will come naturally, as you absorb the essence of the language.
It’s called raising the stakes! You communicate directly with native speakers in class, in real time, while being coached and guided by your instructor. We remove the vocabular exercises and books, replacing these techniques with true experiences allowing you to use Spanish in real life. Repeated exposure and immersion to the language creates new brain pathways so you can access what you learned quicker and more easily.
Level - A
In level A you will learn to communicate in a simple way, using words and phrases which allow you to express basic needs, wants and wishes. We dive into the past, present and future tenses of verbs – focusing on sound to learn conjugations. Your vocabulary will expand based on what you want to communicate.
This level is for learners who can understand and communicate using everyday expressions. You can introduce yourself, and others, and can ask and answer questions about personal details; such as, where you live, people you know and things you have. You can hold a very basic conversation, provided the other person speaks slowly and is prepared to help.
You will want to join this class if you can understand basic dialogue and frequently used expressions related to the areas of your life with the most relevance. For example, basic personal and family information, local geography, employment, etc. You can talk about routine tasks or interests, describe parts of your background, immediate environment and basic needs.
Level - B
Level B is for learners who could read and understand this information if it was written in Spanish.
In these classes we are going to learn more advanced sentence and grammar structures, building off of what you already know. Naturally, your vocabulary will deepen as we learn how to better express ourselves and communicate in more detail. Your pronunciation and phonetics will be perfected as we focus on the rhythm of communication. This level is a lot or trial and error as you stretch your abilities further. Of course, there will also be lots positive reinforcement and encouragement.
You can clearly understand the main points of a conversation when discussing matters related to your daily life, work, school, leisure, etc. You are comfortable communicating with locals when traveling to an area where Spanish is spoken. You can communicate in complete, connected, sentences and phrases. You can engage in conversation about your experiences, events, dreams, hopes and ambitions; as well as, offer basic reasons and explanations as to your opinions or future plans.
You can read and understand advanced text (novels, autobiographies, etc.) and understand the main idea. You can engage in conversation on both concrete and abstract ideas. You have the ability to fluidly communicate with native speakers without causing confusion or strain, for either party. You can have detailed and in-depth discussions on a wide range of subjects, offering explanations as to your viewpoints and giving the advantages and disadvantages of another’s opinion.
Level - C
Level C is our most advanced level. In these classes you need to have an advanced vocabulary and the ability to communicate, and differentiate, informal and professional/formal dialogue. You will participate in conversations which require analysis, investigation and thought. You will dive into real-world conversation and begin to communicate with people outside of Rojas Spanish. For example, you will make a reservations at a hotel in Spain, place a shopping order over the phone, etc. You will learn to respectfully debate your opinions and thoughts, while understanding the perspective of others. Level C is where you will greatly develop your technical writing and listening skills.
You can understand a wide range of demanding texts and identify the meaning in each. You express yourself fluently and spontaneously, without needing to search for words in a conversation. Your dialogue is flexible and effective in social, academic and professional settings. You can articulate well-structured and detailed thoughts concerning complex subjects.
You describe yourself as fluent, or nearly fluent – understanding virtually everything you hear or read. You can summarize information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in an articulate manner. You can express yourself with fluency and precision; differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex of situations. This class will take your fluency and heighten it!
